How important is the ‘it’ factor to you? That’s a question worth answering.

I’ve often wondered, what is ‘it’? ‘It’ is the promise companies and brands make about their products and services; assurances of satisfaction based on your expectations at the time of purchase. Some call these phrases taglines others refer to them as slogans. Regardless, their function is to enhance one’s company name by capturing the desired audience or market and creating a lasting memory in customers’ minds.   How important is ‘it’ to you? That’s a question that only you can answer.
In 2013 AdWeek made a prediction that taglines would die out, and yet taglines have continued to be a vital part of successful marketing strategies. From experience, I can tell you that ‘it’ can create brand recognition and brand loyalty by highlighting the benefits of your products and services and creating a distinction in the marketplace, all within the span of a moment in time, a few words, a catchy jingle.

Effectively used, ‘it’ allows your audience to stop and think about the possibilities of your offering and ask, “does it appeal to my needs, emotions, and values?” I believe ‘it’ is a communication tool that, when done well, should be able to stand the test of time, most importantly, bring about a meaningful way to connect with your target audience. When creating the right message, I’ve found it should not only be descriptive of what your offering is but should be short, easy to remember, catchy and clever. And ‘it’ should be descriptive of your product or service.
